Cameras and software

CMOS and CCD cameras together with image analysis software are extensively used for capturing, storing and analyzing microscopic images.  The CCD (charge-coupled devices) cameras are slightly more sensitive than the CMOS sensors and have less noise.  However, the CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) cameras consume 100 times less power and cost less
