For biological and medical applications fluorescence microscopes are used to observe certain parts of living cells and tissues with help of fluorophores. One or more fluophores are added to the parts of the specimen to be observed. When the fluorophores are exposed to so-called exicitation light, the excitation energy is absorbed by the fluorophore that start emitting so-called emission light that can be observed by the microscope. One can distinguish tumor cells from other cells, follow biological processes or prove the presence or absence of antibodies, etc
The B+ series microscope for fluorescence comes in two versions. Two models are equipped with 4 monochromatic LEDs and two other models are equipped with a 100 W mercury vapor illuminator
The microscopes are supplied with fluorescence filters and dichroic mirrors for excitation in the blue spectral region, green, violet and ultraviolet
The Fluarex objectives are suitable for fluorescence excitation in the violet and ultraviolet region 4 NeoLEDTM fluorescence: Blue (EX 460 to 470 nm, EM > 515 nm), Green (EX 520 to 530 nm, EM > 590 nm),
Violet (EX 395 to 415 nm, EM 425 nm) and Ultraviolet (EX 355 to 375 nm, EM > 455 nm)

• The 86.180-LED and 86.181-LED models are supplied with plan fluarex 4x/0.10, 10x/0.25, S40x/0.65 and S100x/0.90 infinity corrected IOS DIN objectives.
The plan fluarex objectives allow observation in violet and ultraviolet excitation
All S40x and S100x oil immersion objectives are spring loaded
All optics have an anti-reflection coating for maximum light throughput and are anti-fungus treated
FOCUSING
Coaxial coarse and fine adjustments, 200 graduations, 1 μm per graduation, 200 μm per rotation, total travel approximately 23 mm. Supplied with an adjustable rack stop to prevent damage to sample and objectives. The coarse adjustments are equipped with friction control
STAGE
125 x 135 mm stage with 75 x 35 mm X-Y mechanical stage. With Vernier 0.1 mm scale. Removable slide holder. Stages with heating elements and temperature PID controller are also available
